Well first of all, I must say Bravo to all you men who are so in touch with your feelings! Your mothers would be proud, truly.

A: Can't recall a name. I think she was late 30's early 40's, dark shoulder length hair, glasses?

R: Daaaaaang! Green beer at 8:55am? You *must* be Irish!

C: Have I taught you nothing? Go get her, Tiger!

D: Now I'm picturing a sad, bitter old man wearing a faded orange hat. Where's my coffee?

Q: If you're bored, the rest of the bittersweet saga is under my category archives - "Orangehat Chronicles." But be warned - it's a tale of infidelity.

F: Oh yes, that's right. Odd numbered years after your birthday are good luck! Can't wait!

Well, just for a measure of good cheer, remember that your new year DOES start at 12:00 AM...and all will be well!
I know these things because I am, the one and only, Mistress of the Universe, circa 1944.

I'm kind of new to your blog, so I know nothing of the backstory between you and Orangehat. Your story made me tear up and get all snotty and I lost one of my contacts.
Well, whenever life gets you down and relationships go bad, there's really only one thing you can do -- hire strippers! That's what I do, anyway.

It's heartbreaking Jen, just heartbreaking. Even more, Orangehat has no idea he is so adored. He may be spending his nights watching TV on the couch by himself longing for the companionship of a devoted woman, only to fall asleep cold and alone. He may be giving up hope, resigning himself to life of solitude, growing ever jaded as the months and years go by. One day he'll become that bitter old man that scowls and snaps the change out of the hand of the young convinience store clerk, ignoring her chirp of "have a nice day". If only he knew there was a woman on the train riding tortured for his affection.
You must find him.
okay, yeah, WAY too much coffee today.

'a bunch of them were orange and oval - just like the back of my husbands head' - this is the funniest thing I've read for weeks.
...though I know that feeling of always seeing the person you love everywhere you go - funnily enough,I'm going through it at the moment - it just seems like one more cruel twist to the whole unrequited thing.

I have one seamingly meaningless question to your story. Did you happen to catch the name of the volunteer at The Gates or do you remember what she looked like?
