My French is not so good, but while in Mexico, my girlfriend learned how to say “I left my ATM card in your machine yesterday” in Spanish. Actually, she forgot how to say “yesterday,” so she said, “the day before today.”

I second Vivian’s California idea. No passport necessary here; hence no real reason to stay sober.
