The Return

Hey Viv, it's Jen. Just wanted to make sure you got to your train okay. We're still at the airport. Dee-Dee is currently being strip searched by an Amazon, so hopefully we won't miss our flight. I'll fill you in later. Bye!

Watching the typically mild-mannered Dee-Dee get belligerent with the security personnel at Reagan National was one of the highlights of my trip to DC. Getting to third base with a prison guard-esque woman wearing blue latex gloves was probably not a highlight for Dee-Dee. But man, was I tempted to pull out my camera...

DC stories and illustrations to come later this week!

there must be some homeland security loophole that allows/encourages groping at airports; i got felt up at national too. the guy didn't speak much english; "nipple rings" was evidently not part of his ESL/TSA training. after wanding my chest several times and saying "necklace? necklace?" he muttered a quick "can i touch" while he reached in to cop a feel. hello!?! awkward!
so dee-dee, i feel for you.

The belly ring makes for interesting interactions with TSA authorities as well. Which oddly enough brings to mind a slight paraphrase of the old Mary Poppins tune, "It's a Jolly Holiday." Wow, I really just made a reference here to Mary Poppins, didn't I? Apparently a mind is a terrible thing to waste...

Glad you're back!

hmm... piecings have never set off the detectors or the wands for me. But that was before nine-eleven, so maybe they've beefed up security in those devices.

And blue latex? kink-ay.

I go to DC all the time, and the guards there have never frisked me. No fair! I want to get some!

If you can't bring a knife on a plane, why are nipple rings allowed? Can't they be used as a weapon?

Note to self: when you're feeling kinda lonely, get pierced and head to O'Hare. Remember to wear clean underwear, though.

Have you even been placed in a glass box alone while many travellers walk by and look at you like -- hey that's a small glass box...why is she in there? I seriously think they wanted me to parade around in my bra...I'm still having nightmares...
