Is this book funny as well? We don't live in poverty anymore, but I still feel the purchase of a hardcover is akin to buying a Mercedes when your gramps is perfectly willing to hand over his Mercedes.

I have to say that my love for Amy grew completely because of my undying love/borderline obsession with David Sedaris. When I saw him read/discuss passages from his then-not-yet-released book "Dress Your Family in Cordouroy and Demin" I nearly passed out I was so happy.

But she is awesome. And I was reading the inside of that book on Amazon, and I'm pretty sure I'm giving it to at least three people on my Christmas list this year...One of them being me.

Oh, my god, Jen, you beat me to it. I met Amy about 2 weeks at her book signing in Boston and I was thinking of writing about her. I have been a fan of hers and "Strangers with Candy" forever. I adore Amy Sedaris! Her sister lives near me and a friend of mine knows the sister. Apparently, she's rather, shall we say, 'unusual'. Jen, I feel really bonded with you now that I know you are a fan of Amy's!

Sarah: The book is great. It's a serious cookbook/entertaining book, but it's presented in hilarious Sedaris fashion. I think you can get it for like $20 on Amazon - totally worth it!

Jess: Ah, you know you don't need to bribe me with Sedarises to hang out, but it never hurts. I sure hope your flight gets out today - the weather isn't cooperating very well!

Diane: You'll love the book - it's a great xmas present!

Laurie: Isn't it scary that they have so much talent in that family? Sheesh. Share the wealth, why don't you?

Rhea: I am a HUGE Strangers With Candy fan, so I just about died when people in the audience started asking her to say some of my favorite lines like, "Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!" and "Hobocamp!" and the best of all, "Fandango?"

I always love it when I meet my favorite authors and they DON'T suck. I've met a few who have sucked and then I was very, very disillusioned.

No WAY! You have the most funnest life of anyone, EVER, and I'm envious of you! But I love you for sharing your adventures so I can live and laugh vicariously as you run marathons sideways, rock out in disco taxis, meet and hangout with cool folks like Amy and Jessica and Vivian, go through revolving doors without getting stuck...

Amy is a hoot. I like her very much even if she's a little wacky on Letterman. Unfortunately, I missed her when she was in town recently. I should read the book.

I almost bought that book last weekend. And now I think I must.

I saw her in Durham a month or so ago, too. She rocks. I bought her book for my daughter for Christmas. I think it's a match made in heaven.

i was SO completely and utterly bummed to the max to miss amy's appearance in seattle. i waited too long for my coworkers to get their asses in gear and so it sold out! boo hoo! i love her. she's the funniest. :)

It's hard to top Buy Viagra Online's astute comments, but I just found out that a friend of a friend lives in the same building in NYC as Amy Sedaris. He reported, "She dresses like a freak--if she weren't famous, she'd be committed." I said, "I'm so relieved. I'd be so disappointed to hear that she seemed really normal, very gracious and slightly aloof."
