There are no more cocktail franks. What’s the point of living? Oh that’s right – there's still some wine.

I love cocktail franks. And I like the fact that you're a cheap date. Unless you require expensive wine with those cocktail franks.

I always snicker at cocktail franks. They seem so, I don't know, 1950s homemaker fare. But then I eat them and I can't get enough of them. Pigs in blankets are divine.

there is nothing quite so satisfying as a well balanced diet, is there?

Posted by: kat at January 3, 2007 08:58 AM

Neil: I'm totally a cheap date. The wine was $9.99 - and tasty!

Rhea: EXACTLY! We were actually planning on having a 1940's themed New Year's, which is why I got the franks in the first place. But then it just turned out to be a 21st century New Year's with lots and lots of cocktail franks.

Kat: Meat, dairy, vegetable, carbohydrates... and red wine to keep us heart healthy. What more could you ask for?

As long as you don't confuse cocktail weenies with Vienna sausages. Blecch!

Posted by: Karl at January 3, 2007 10:15 AM

new year, new menu! ;)

well, you got the protein part down pat! now all you need is some rotelle dip for the dairy portion of the nutrition pyramid.

This isn't helping my stomach flu. What is spicy pickled okra, and why does it keep showing up? I'm going to have nightmares about that.

Posted by: roy at January 3, 2007 07:19 PM

Someone's passing on the pickled okra. Wonder why.

Jenny, buy some baby carrots and bill it to me. I'm just uptown for the week.

BTW, what do you think of Andersonville? My ex (and he is a sweetie so I want to take care of him in his single state) is moving there. Just wonderin'.

Posted by: nina at January 3, 2007 09:32 PM

Okra is a bad thing. I like all things pickled but I cannot abide okra.

Happy New Year!

Posted by: asia at January 3, 2007 09:37 PM

karl: No way - I saw your dare, and there's no way I'd eat them!

Sizzle: Wait... does that mean next year I can't eat cocktail franks?

hollie: Rotelle dip? Do tell!

Roy: It's a little taste of heaven. Sorry 'bout the stomach flu, though!

nina: You're too good to me - expect to see one giant bill for baby carrots showing up on your Visa card! Oh - and I absolutely love Andersonville. Great little shops and restaurants, but not crazy and overcrowded like all the uber-hip neighborhoods.

asia: What the-?! I totally thought you would have my back on this one, oh lover of all things pickled! Is it the seeds? The stringiness? Pickled okra isn't slimy like cooked okra - give it another chance, won't you?

What does it say about me, that I'm actually jealous you got to have cocktail franks?

Posted by: sandra at January 4, 2007 09:10 AM

Mmm..I love the pickled okra!!

Posted by: teahouseblossom at January 6, 2007 05:03 PM

You know, "cocktail weenies" is a lot more fun to say.

Posted by: Don at January 6, 2007 08:51 PM

Mmmm... nice balanced diet you have there. I've never tried pickled okra. I love the fried ones though. Hope you're having a good year.

Posted by: Anne at January 7, 2007 03:49 PM

sandra: It means you and i need to hang out more often.

thb: FINALLY - someone understands!

Don: True 'dat.

Anne: I don't know that I've ever had the fried kind... perhaps a trip down south is in order?
