This looks to be the most intense thriller of the summer – I cannot wait to see it!

    You’ve seen this before, right?

  2. Miss Britt Says:

LOL – that is awesome. I KNEW those preview makers were screwing with us on purpose.
(Is “preview makers” a real job? It should be.)

  3. shari Says:

Duuuuuuude! I heart the internets so hard.

  4. Poppy Says:

    *giggle*

  5. You can call me, 'Sir' Says:

Y’know, each of the hundred or so times I’ve seen this movie, I always felt that there was a darker, more sinister side to it all.
    Confirmed!!!

It’s amazing what a little music and editing can do, both of those clips (Avitable’s included) are so great! I’m going off to youtube to see what I can find now :)

  8. megan Says:

it’s not as good as the recut ‘preview’ of the shining, but it’s still pretty damn good.
    i love these things.

  9. Tracy Lynn Says:

Is it wrong that all I kept thinking was GOD, WERE WE EVER REALLY THAT YOUNG?

  10. Jessica Says:

    Well that’s just great…thanks a lot, Jen.
I’ve now had to cancel my engagement for the evening due to a compelling urge to rent FBDO.

  11. libragirl/Rachel Says:

Man that looked like a totally different movie..you know some young kid is gonna think it’s real.

  12. Greeneyezz Says:

Dang! What a HUGE difference a different music track and different clips make! Wow!
And from a whole different perspective?????…Makes you wonder just how much the public can be swayed on a News Story or other non-fiction documentary, merely by how the material is presented?
Things that make you go MMMMMMmmmm….

For some reason, I don’t remember Ferris Beuller being so dark and artsy. I can’t wait to show my daughter that. FBDO is her comfort movie whenever she’s sick or sad.

  14. kapgar Says:

It’s amazing how some re-editing and a change of music can totally shift the tone. Scary.

avitable: i hadn’t seen that one – i love it!
miss britt: i’m sure it is a real job. i’d just like to be the voice-over guy for all those previews – it’s always the same gravely voice.
    shari: don’t you, though?
    poppy: cracked me up too!
sir: you have a keen insight into the human psyche.
tobi: it really is amazing what creative editing can do for a film, isn’t it?
megan: i loved the shining one – it’s the feel good film of the summer!
tracy lynn: i’ve always been this old.
jessica: are you telling me you don’t already own it?
libragirl: i didn’t remember so many seemingly dramatic scenes in the film – it was great!
ZZ: oh, absolutely! and you always hear people on those reality tv shows talk about the unfair editing – maybe they’re not all just whiners.
churlita: ha! i don’t know how comforting this new director’s cut of FBDO will be for her…
kapgar: that music is super creepy – from requiem for a dream, which is almost unwatchable it’s so painfully dark.

I hadn’t seen that one before. Great parody from two great movies.

  17. Dave Says:

The voiceover guy is Don LaFontaine. A.K.A. The coolest voice in the History of Earth. He can make wheat germ breakfast cereal sound intense and dramatic.
